What is Saju?

Saju (사주, "four pillars") is the Korean form of the four-pillars birth chart. It turns your birth year, month, day, and hour into four pairs of characters, each tied to one of five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The character for your birth day, called the Day Master, describes your core self.

Western astrology reads where the planets were. Saju reads how the elements relate to each other: which ones feed each other (Wood feeds Fire, Fire makes Earth) and which ones check each other (Metal cuts Wood, Water puts out Fire). That makes it a natural fit for reading two people at once.
