Saju (사주, 'four pillars') is the Korean form of the four-pillars birth chart. It maps a person's birth year, month, day, and hour to pairs of the ten Heavenly Stems and twelve Earthly Branches, each tied to one of five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water). The day's stem, the Day Master, describes the core self. Compared with Western astrology, Saju reads the relationship between elements (which ones feed and which ones check each other) instead of planet positions. ## Korean astrology guides ### Korean astrology by date of birth: your Saju birth chart, explained Korean astrology is called Saju (사주), which means "four pillars."
